Simulate Mode

Overview: Using the Simulator Settings Wizard

NOTE

You can also change the settings entered with the wizard, as well as enter additional Simulator settings, by specifying Simulator settings using the Settings command (Assignments menu).

The Simulator Settings wizard (Assignments menu) helps you create and save Simulator settings.

The Quartus® II software allows you to designate any top-level design entity in your project as the "simulation focus." The simulation focus is the design entity you want to simulate.

The Simulator Settings wizard allows you to specify the simulation focus, the type of simulation that should be performed, the time period covered by the simulation, and the source of vector stimuli.

In addition, you can turn on options for reporting the simulation coverage and setup and hold time violations. You can use the wizard to define a glitch, and report pulses shorter than the defined value. The Quartus II software can detect glitches as narrow as 1 ps.

After you click Finish, the group of Simulator settings you specified is saved as the Simulator settings name you specify. To modify the Simulator settings, choose Settings (Assignments menu) and specify settings on the General, Time/Vectors, Mode, and Options pages located under Simulator Settings.
