In the Quartus® II software, you can edit text with the Text Editor using the following features:
With the Undo or Redo command (Edit menu), you can reverse edits or reinstate edits that you have previously reversed.
With the Cut or Copy command (Edit menu), you can place a copy of selected text on the Clipboard. With the Paste command (Edit menu), you can place a copy of the item(s) on the Clipboard into a text file. You can also copy and cut text from a text file and paste it into other Quartus II files and into different types of text fields. For example, you can paste a pin name from a Text Design File (.tdf) into a Block Design File (.bdf). You can paste text only if the file formats of the source and target file names are compatible.
With the Cut or Copy and Paste commands, you can define the Clipboard's contents and paste those contents repeatedly.
With the Delete command (Edit menu), you can remove text without affecting the contents of the Clipboard.
With the Select All command (Edit menu), you can select all text in a text file.
With the Replace command (Edit menu), you can replace instances of a text string with another text string.
With the Increase Indent or Decrease Indent command (Edit menu), you can increase or decrease the indent of an existing line or section of text. More Details
With the Tab size (in spaces) list of the Text Editor General Options tab (Options command), you can specify the number of spaces represented by each indent.
With the Insert Page Break command (Edit menu), you can insert a page break anywhere in the text file.
With the Insert File command (Edit menu), you can insert the entire contents of any text file into the current file.
With the Insert Template command (Edit menu), you can insert a template for any AHDL statement or section, or for any supported VHDL or Verilog HDL construct, into the current file. AHDL, VHDL, and Verilog HDL templates provide an easy way for you to enter HDL syntax, increasing the speed and accuracy of design entry.
With the Text Editor Fonts Options tab (Options command), you can change the size, style, and font of the text. Text sizes range from 8 to 48 points and are available for monospace (that is, fixed width) fonts installed on your computer. The Text Editor supports only monospace fonts.
With the mouse, you can define an insertion point to add text, or select contiguous text or columns and move text by dragging and dropping, or replace text by typing over the selected text.
With the Insert key, you can replace text by typing new text before the text you want to change.
