When you delete cells with the Delete command (Edit menu), all memory words after the deletion point move left. The number of words in the Memory Initialization File (.mif) or Hexadecimal (Intel-Format) File (.hex) remains the same, and cells with the value of 0 (zero) are appended to the end of the Memory Editor grid. The number of cells appended is the same as the number of cells deleted.
