To create a new symbol in the Symbol Editor:

1. Create a new Block Symbol File (.bsf).  Read This First

2. Click the Text Tool button , Line Tool button  , Rectangle Tool button  , Oval Tool button  , or Arc Tool button   on the toolbar.

3. To create the symbol, click to define a starting point and drag the pointer until the symbol is the desired size.

4. Specify the symbol properties.

5. Save the new file.

To open a pre-existing symbol in the Symbol Editor:

Open pre-existing Block Symbol Files (.bsf) from one of the directories in the ./quartus/libraries directory.
